Carnival Panorama

Carnival Panorama is the third and final Vista-class ship built for Carnival Cruise Line, delivered by Fincantieri at Marghera in October 2019 at 133,868 gross tons. One decision explains her better than any other. Carnival did not send her to Florida. She was placed on the West Coast, at Long Beach, California, running seven-day Mexican Riviera itineraries to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The line billed her as the first new Carnival ship based in Southern California in twenty years, and that placement still defines what she is for. It remains current, not historic. Cruise Industry News reported schedule adjustments to her Long Beach Mexican Riviera sailings in May 2026, covering departures into March 2027.
What she does well is the Vista-class formula, executed at scale. SkyRide, the suspended pedal-powered track, runs above the upper decks. WaterWorks is the aqua park. Sky Zone, a trampoline park, occupies the space her two sisters gave to an IMAX screen, and it is hers alone among the three. The Havana area provides a Cuban-themed pool and bar aft. Cloud 9 Spa handles the thermal suite and treatment side. On the food, Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina and Pizzeria del Capitano carry no surcharge, which is a real part of the value here. Serenity gives adults a deck away from the family pools.
The criticism is consistent and worth taking seriously. Cruise Critic's editorial review rates her 4.5 out of 5 but is blunt about sound: soundproofing is thin, corridors are noisy, and the general level of banging about is high. The same review finds dining service inconsistent. She has had mechanical trouble too. An engine problem cancelled four sailings in November 2023.
She suits families, multigenerational groups, friends travelling together, and West Coast residents who would rather drive to the pier than fly to Florida. The comparison with Royal Caribbean is worth making plainly. Carnival sits at a lower price point, and the onboard tone is louder, more casual and less polished. That is a fair trade, not a failing, if it is the holiday you want. If you are after quiet lounges, restrained service and a calmer public room, this is not the ship.
Cabin choice matters more here than on most ships, precisely because of the noise. Cruise Critic notes that only two decks are given over entirely to staterooms, so a large number of cabins back onto public space. Havana cabins buy access to the aft Havana pool and bar, reserved for guests booked in them and limited to ages twelve and up, but they sit near the Havana Bar and its nightly live music. Cabins on the deck directly beneath Lido hear chairs dragged and decks cleaned early. Locate the SkyRide track on the plan before booking anything high and aft. One honest caveat.
