Terms of Service
Plain-language summary of how accounts and member contributions work on Cruise Ship Wiki.
Accounts
A free account lets you contribute photos and video-tour links, submit suggested edits, and apply to become an editor. Keep your login details secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
Member contributions (photos & video links)
When you upload a photo or link a video, you affirm that you own it or have the right to share it, and you grant Cruise Ship Wiki a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site with credit to you. You keep ownership of your media. Don't upload anything that infringes someone else's copyright, is inappropriate, or isn't of the ship/venue it's attached to.
For your privacy, uploaded photos are re-processed on our server, which removes location (GPS) and other metadata. Videos are stored only as links to YouTube or Vimeo, not hosted here.
Moderation
Member uploads appear immediately so the community feels live. Anyone can report content with the flag button, and moderators can remove anything that breaks these terms. Repeated abuse can lead to a suspended account.
Editing ship data
Authoritative ship data (specs, descriptions, history) is edited only by approved editors, with a full revision history. Any member may submit a suggested edit for an editor to review. Donating or holding a membership never grants editing rights - editor status is earned by application and approval only.
Content originality
Our written descriptions are original paraphrase synthesised from established facts, with a References/Sources section per ship. We don't copy or quote external text.
Donations & membership
Core content is free. Optional donations and paid memberships help cover hosting; perks are supporter-only and never include influence over content.
