Editorial Cruise Ship Wiki's take on Celebrity Beyond
Celebrity Beyond is the third Edge class ship, launched in 2022, 141,400 gross tons and 3,260 guests. The class has two signatures: the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that travels up and down the starboard side, working as tender platform, bar and dining perch, and, the decision that really defines her, the Infinite Veranda, where the outer wall of the cabin opens rather than the room having a separate balcony. Beyond stretched the formula, one deck taller and about 20 metres longer than Edge and Apex, buying a far larger Retreat sun deck and more suites. Interiors came from several hands, among them Kelly Hoppen and Nate Berkus. She currently runs seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean round trips from Miami, moving back to Fort Lauderdale from late 2026.
Her strengths are atmosphere and food. The Grand Plaza is a social centre rather than a lobby, with the Martini Bar at its heart, and Eden, the three deck lounge aft, is the most ambitious room in the fleet. Le Voyage, Daniel Boulud's first restaurant at sea, sits alongside Fine Cut and the Rooftop Garden Grill, while the Sunset Bar is the best outdoor space aboard. Four complimentary main restaurants replace the single dining room, and the production shows are well regarded.
The criticism is real. Cruise Critic's editors award five out of five, yet the same review flags the overhang shading many upper deck balconies and noise from Eden reaching aft cabins on decks 7 and 8. Eat Sleep Cruise found the main dining rooms below Celebrity's usual standard and the service impersonal. The Infinite Veranda genuinely divides people: detractors call it a glorified window, and several reviewers doubt how it copes with heat and humidity, when the answer is to shut it.
Celebrity is a premium line, priced above Royal Caribbean and Carnival, and Beyond is adult leaning by design: no water slides, no rock wall, modest children's facilities. It suits couples and solo travellers who want good food, decent wine and a quiet bar late on. It does not suit families after flumes and go karts, nor anyone shopping on headline fare.
The cabin choice matters more here than on most ships. An Infinite Veranda is a standard cabin extended to the ship's side, glazed floor to ceiling, the top pane sliding down, a bifold partition dividing the front section from the bed. Open the glass and you have a strip of open air inside the room. The gain is roughly twenty square feet of usable indoor space, weatherproof and quiet. The loss is a true outdoor room: you cannot sit out with the cabin sealed and cool behind you, and in the Caribbean many passengers keep it shut. If a conventional balcony matters, book a Sky Suite or another category that keeps one. Celebrity Beyond is the third ship of Celebrity Cruises' Edge class, and the first to depart significantly from the dimensions of the two vessels that preceded her. Built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire, France, at a cost of around US$900 million, she was delivered in 2022 after her design was stretched to sixteen decks, lengthening the hull and adding capacity and public space compared with lead ship Celebrity Edge and her sister Apex. The additional deck gave designers room to enlarge the ship's signature spaces while retaining the class's core architecture.
Beyond carries an expanded version of the Magic Carpet, the cantilevered orange platform that rides the starboard hull to serve as restaurant, bar, or tender platform, along with the Infinite Veranda staterooms that fold a balcony into the living space. The ship leaned heavily into celebrity-designer collaborations: interior designer Nate Berkus shaped much of the passenger experience, including the popular multi-level Sunset Bar at the stern, while Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud created the fine-dining restaurant Le Voyage. The Grand Plaza, Eden, and the resort-style pool deck round out a layout that pushed the premium-segment formula toward greater scale and polish.
Her godmother is the American gymnast Simone Biles, one of the most decorated athletes in the sport's history, whose selection continued Celebrity's tradition of naming prominent women to christen its ships. Beyond entered service in 2022 to strong commercial reception.
Celebrity Beyond primarily sails round-trip Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and has also operated European seasons. Registered at Valletta, Malta, and carrying the call sign 9HA5296, she operates as the largest of the earlier Edge-class trio and remains in active service with Celebrity Cruises.
