Celebrity Xcel

Celebrity Xcel is the fifth ship of Celebrity Cruises' Edge class and the first to advance the class's propulsion and interior design in significant ways. Built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire, France, at a cost of around US$900 million, she was delivered in 2025. Her most consequential technical departure is a set of methanol-ready dual-fuel engines, positioning the ship to burn lower-emission methanol as that fuel becomes more widely available and reflecting the broader industry push toward decarbonization.

While Xcel retains the architecture that defines the Edge class, she also revises several of its signature spaces. The three-deck Eden venue that appeared on the earlier sisters is replaced by a new concept called The Bazaar, a reimagined dining and gathering space, while the ship continues to feature the cantilevered Magic Carpet platform and the Infinite Veranda staterooms that fold a balcony into the cabin. These changes mark Xcel as a transitional design, carrying forward the class's core identity while refreshing its food-and-beverage and entertainment offerings.

Her godmother is the Brazilian chef Janaina Torres, recognized internationally for her acclaimed São Paulo restaurant, a selection that both continued Celebrity's tradition of naming prominent women and highlighted the ship's culinary ambitions.

Celebrity Xcel is deployed on Caribbean and Mediterranean itineraries, homeporting at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Registered at Valletta, Malta, and carrying the call sign 9HA6265, she is the newest Edge-class ship in service and a preview of the further-evolved sixth-of-class vessel to follow.
