Mein Schiff 4

Mein Schiff 4 was the second of TUI Cruises' purpose-built newbuild generation, constructed by Meyer Turku in Finland and delivered in 2015, one year behind her near-identical sister Mein Schiff 3. She was ordered as part of the German-market joint venture's decisive move away from converted secondhand tonnage toward a fleet of large, custom-designed ships tailored to the German-speaking premium cruise audience, with a reported construction cost of around US$620 million.

Measuring roughly 99,500 GT and about 293 metres long across fifteen decks, she carries approximately 2,500 guests at double occupancy. Like her sister she was built around the all-inclusive TUI Cruises product, with an expansive array of restaurants, bars and one of the larger spa and wellness complexes afloat, along with the stern-mounted glass Diamant lounge that had become a class signature. The emphasis throughout was on airy, contemporary interiors and a broad choice of included dining rather than the formal traditions of older cruise lines.

The ship was named by German swimming champion Franziska van Almsick, a multiple Olympic medallist and one of the country's best-known athletes, chosen as godmother in keeping with the brand's practice of drawing on prominent German public figures. She is registered in Valletta, Malta, sails under the Maltese flag, and carries the call sign 9HA3513.

Mein Schiff 4 has since operated a wide seasonal programme, ranging from the Persian Gulf and worldwide winter itineraries to Mediterranean and Northern European summers, often based at Palma de Mallorca. She continues in active service as a core member of the TUI Cruises fleet.
