Mein Schiff 6 entered service in 2017 as the fourth and last hull of the class TUI Cruises ordered from 2014 to 2017. Meyer Turku built her in Finland at 98,811 gross tons and 295 metres, with 15 decks, 1,267 cabins, about 2,534 guests at lower berths, 2,700 when full, and roughly 1,000 crew. She was named in Hamburg in June 2017 by the musician Iveta Apkalna. TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Group, builds for German speaking guests who want a premium, broadly inclusive product: the fare carries food around the clock and more than 100 branded drinks, and the interiors trade spectacle for pale Scandinavian calm.

The venue list is the class signature. Atlantik divides into Klassik, Brasserie and Mediterran, the Anckelmannsplatz buffet seats 745, and GOSCH Sylt handles seafood in a 133 seat room. Hanami and Richards sit on the surcharge tier, Osteria does pizza. Klanghaus, a 300 seat concert hall for chamber music and opera, is the fleet's oddest room; the 1,000 seat theatre works a revolving stage against eight LED screens. Grosse Freiheit anchors the aft entertainment complex beneath the Diamant, SPA & Meer runs saunas and a Rasul suite, the Lagune pool measures 25 metres, and the Blauer Balkon sets a glass floor 37 metres above the sea.

The fair criticism starts with sameness. Mein Schiff 6 differs from her three sisters only in minor structural detail, so anyone who has sailed the class knows the layout, the room names and the show format. The inclusive fare has edges: premium spirits fall outside it, and the two most interesting kitchens, Hanami and Richards, cost extra. Standard cabins at 17 square metres are efficient rather than generous, and a 745 seat buffet feeding 2,700 guests concentrates pressure at peak hours.

She suits German speakers who value a fixed price, families using the Insel der Seeraeuber club, and guests who plan the day around the spa and concert hall. An English speaker without German should go in clear eyed: German is the working language, and announcements, the theatre and Klanghaus programmes and most menu detail are built for a German speaking room.

**What this means for choosing a cabin.** Roughly 90 percent of cabins face the sea and about 82 percent have a balcony, so the default is a 17 square metre balcony cabin on decks 6 to 11, Boje through Krabbe. Below run the promenade, casino and speciality restaurants on decks 3 to 5; above sit the pools and spa on deck 12, which argues against the top cabin deck under that footfall. Suites sit at the extremes: Himmel und Meer lofts forward on deck 14 with a 29 square metre roof terrace, Diamant suites aft on deck 6 with a 47 square metre balcony, junior suites on deck 10. Only 127 inside and 89 oceanview cabins exist, so cheap grades go first.
