Mein Schiff 6 completed the first quartet of TUI Cruises' purpose-built newbuild generation, delivered by Meyer Turku in Finland in 2017 as the fourth and final ship of the design pioneered by Mein Schiff 3. Ordered for the German-speaking premium market of the TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Group joint venture, she was built at a reported cost of around US$620 million and rounded out a fleet transformation that had replaced the line's early secondhand tonnage with large, custom vessels.

Spanning roughly 99,700 GT and about 295 metres over fifteen decks, she accommodates approximately 2,500 guests at double occupancy. She carried forward the by-then well-established TUI Cruises formula of an all-inclusive fare, a wide spread of specialty and buffet dining, a substantial spa and sports area, and open, contemporary interiors, together with the stern glass Diamant lounge shared across the class.

In a departure from the brand's usual choice of pop stars and athletes, the ship was named by Latvian concert organist Iveta Apkalna, an internationally acclaimed classical musician and the titular organist of Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie, an unusual and culturally resonant selection for a godmother. She is registered in Valletta, Malta, sails under the Maltese flag, and carries the call sign 9HA4330.

Mein Schiff 6 has since ranged widely, working the North East Atlantic, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and worldwide seasonal routes, frequently based at Palma de Mallorca. She remains in active service as part of the TUI Cruises fleet.
