Editorial Cruise Ship Wiki's take on Mein Schiff Relax Cruise Ship Wiki · August 2026 · 451 words

Mein Schiff Relax entered service on 2 March 2025, a month after Fincantieri handed her over at Monfalcone. She is the first of TUI Cruises' InTUItion class, and at roughly 160,000 gross tons with berths for about 3,900 guests and 1,535 crew she is the largest hull this German speaking line has run. The defining idea is scale on cleaner fuel: dual fuel engines burn LNG or marine gas oil, with bio LNG or e LNG possible later. She is a break rather than a development of the Blue Motion ships, Mein Schiff 3 to 7, which sit near 100,000 tons and 2,500 guests, and she is the line's first new prototype design in over eleven years.

Entertainment centres on a hexagonal theatre of roughly 1,000 seats, the 300 seat Klanghaus concert hall and a Casino Burlesque in 1920s cabaret style. The bar list takes in the Diamant Bar, Schau Bar and Ueberschau Bar, the Ebbe und Flut Bier Bar, the late night Abtanz Bar and a Rauchersalon. Dining runs from a two level aft main restaurant to a steakhouse, an Osteria and a Japanese venue curated by Tim Raue. Outside sit a 25 metre resort pool, an aft infinity pool behind glass, an aqua park and the Blue Balcony glass platforms. Wellness fills some 2,400 square metres and includes a cold chamber at minus 110 degrees Celsius.

Published coverage is still mostly build and design reporting, guest verdicts being thin on a ship this new. Wilson Butler Architects drew the masterplan and the entertainment spaces. The emissions plant reportedly cuts sulphur oxides by nearly 99 percent. The christening was at Malaga on 9 April 2025, and the first season ran as Mediterranean round trips from Palma de Mallorca.

German is the working language on board, and the food, entertainment and service are tuned to German tastes, so anyone without the language should treat that as decisive rather than incidental. Otherwise the ship suits families, wellness travellers and solo passengers, this being the first TUI hull with balcony cabins sold as singles. Anyone after a small ship or an English language product should look elsewhere.

**What this means for choosing a cabin.** There are 1,945 cabins across ten decks, from deck 3 to deck 15, and the mix is outside heavy: over 90 percent are outside and around 80 percent carry balconies. Suites cluster high on decks 9 to 14, from the 88 square metre duplex Grosse Freiheit Suite down through the Weitblick, Fernweh and Schoene Aussicht grades and 110 Junior Suite Balkon rooms; the 26 singles split 7 inside, 9 outside and 10 balcony. Deck 3 shares its level with the lobby and hospital, and decks 4 and 5 hold shops, dining and the casino, so deck 6 cabins sit over public rooms. Deck 15 cabins share a floor with the spa, under deck 16 dining and the deck 17 pools. Decks 6 to 12 are the quieter band.

Mein Schiff Relax inaugurated an entirely new chapter for TUI Cruises as the first ship of the LNG-powered InTUItion class, a clean-sheet design that broke both with the line's Meyer Turku heritage and with its numeric naming convention. Built instead by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, she was delivered in February 2025 and christened in Malaga that April, marking the German-market joint venture's decisive step toward lower-emission cruising.

At roughly 160,000 GT she is substantially larger than any previous Mein Schiff, and TUI Cruises has stated that the InTUItion class carries a true double-occupancy capacity of 3,890 guests. Powered by liquefied natural gas and equipped for shore-power connection, the ship was engineered around energy efficiency and reduced emissions, themes reflected in her name, which emphasises wellness and relaxation. The larger hull afforded expanded dining, spa and wellness spaces while retaining the open, informal character and all-inclusive product that define the brand.

The ship was christened by Giuliana Rizzo as godmother, a choice reflecting her Italian construction at Monfalcone. She is registered in Valletta, Malta, flies the Maltese flag, and carries the call sign 9HA6120.

Mein Schiff Relax entered service on Canary Islands and North East Atlantic itineraries, with seasonal Mediterranean deployment often based at Palma de Mallorca. As one of the newest and largest ships in the fleet, and the pioneer of TUI Cruises' LNG-powered future, she remains in active service.

Accommodation reflects the class's balcony-heavy design: TUI Cruises lists 1,945 cabins for the ship, comprising 158 inside and 106 outside cabins, 1,531 balcony cabins, 118 junior suites and 32 suites, and the line's published deck plans place numbered staterooms on Decks 7 through 15. Public life spreads across venues named on those same plans, from the Atlantik restaurant, Harbour Market buffet, Osteria and the Fugu by Tim Raue specialty restaurant to La Cage with its burlesque bar and casino, the Captain's Bar high on Deck 16 and a main theater spanning two decks, with the pool landscape, spa complex and sports arena occupying the upper decks.
