MSC Meraviglia is a cruise ship operated by MSC Cruises and the lead ship of the Meraviglia class. Delivered in June 2017 by the Saint-Nazaire yard then trading as STX France, now Chantiers de l'Atlantique, she measures about 171,600 gross tons and 316 metres, with 2,244 staterooms across 19 decks. At her debut she was the largest cruise ship ever built for a European shipowner.
The ship introduced the Galleria Meraviglia, an indoor promenade about 80 metres long roofed with a continuous LED screen that plays skies, seasons and animated displays above two decks of bars, shops and restaurants. The Galleria became the defining feature of the class and was carried forward, at greater length, into the Meraviglia-Plus ships.
Meraviglia was also the first ship to carry Cirque du Soleil at Sea, presenting original shows in a dedicated dinner-and-performance lounge. Other facilities include a two-deck main theatre, an extensive spa, an aft aqua park, a large casino, family and teen clubs, and the MSC Yacht Club suite complex forward on the upper decks.
She was named in Le Havre in June 2017, with Sophia Loren as godmother, before beginning her first Mediterranean season.
Meraviglia has since become one of MSC's most widely travelled ships, operating Mediterranean and Northern European seasons and later basing in North America, sailing from New York, Miami and Port Canaveral on Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda and Canada and New England itineraries.
