Silver Moon

Silver Moon is the middle ship of Silversea's Muse class, a Fincantieri built sister to Silver Muse, the hull Wikipedia records at 40,791 gross tons. She carries 596 guests against 411 crew, a ratio of 1.45 to one. Sources differ on her debut: Wikipedia's fleet entry gives 2020, while Cruise Critic lists her as launched in 2021. What separates her from her sisters is regional: this is the hull built around S.A.L.T., Sea and Land Taste, Silversea's attempt to make the galley follow the itinerary.

S.A.L.T. runs across three rooms. S.A.L.T. Kitchen cooks to the region the ship is crossing. S.A.L.T. Lab is a working test kitchen whose hands on sessions change daily, carrying no surcharge but requiring reservations because the space is small. S.A.L.T. Bar, which Cruise Critic calls tiny, builds cocktails around local spirits. Around it sit Atlantide, the jazz club Silver Note, the piano bar Dolce Vita, the Panorama Lounge on Deck 9, the cigar and cognac Connoisseur's Corner, and the Venetian Lounge. Zagara Spa, the gym and the casino share Deck 6.

The criticisms are consistent. Casual evening dining is thin, and the two surcharge restaurants, Kaiseki and La Dame, fall outside a fare that otherwise covers drinks, gratuities, butler service, S.A.L.T. activities and, from spring 2022, most shore excursions. Reviewers call the wine list limited and the entertainment pitched at an older room, and guests with mobility needs report the design does not serve them. Member opinion runs below the editorial verdict: Cruise Critic's editor scores the ship 5.0 out of 5, while its 67 member reviews average 3.6, faulting reactive service, everyday baking below the standard of the specialty rooms, and value at a fare starting near 3,267 dollars per person.

Silver Moon rewards well travelled couples who build the day around a port and want the evening to answer it, and anyone happier in a test kitchen than at a production show. It is a poor match for guests needing young children's facilities, late night energy, large cast theatre, or a keen price.

**What this means for choosing a cabin.** Every room is a suite with butler service and only about a dozen lack a balcony, so the decision is size and position. Vista Suites at 334 square feet are the entry point and hold three of the four accessible rooms; Deluxe Veranda Suites at 387 square feet are the sensible step up and Cruise Critic's pick for solo travellers. Above them sit four Owner's Suites of 947 to 1,389 square feet and four Grand Suites, the largest on Deck 8, right forward with wraparound balconies. Fifty two cabins connect, which is how the top categories expand for families. On position, the pool occupies Deck 10 and the running track Deck 11, so the highest suites lie under foot traffic, and the Deck 9 Panorama Lounge has an outdoor smoking area that Cruise Critic says permeates.
