Utopia of the Seas is the sixth and final ship of Royal Caribbean's Oasis class, built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire in France and entering service in July 2024. She marked a significant technical evolution of the class as the first Oasis-class ship powered primarily by liquefied natural gas, part of Royal Caribbean's broader push toward lower-emission propulsion following the LNG-fueled Icon of the Seas. At roughly 236,860 gross tons and about 362 metres long, she carries more than 5,600 guests at double occupancy across her many decks, served by some 2,290 crew.
Unlike her Oasis siblings, which were conceived largely for week-long voyages, Utopia was designed and marketed for the short-getaway trade, running three- and four-night cruises rather than the traditional seven-night pattern. She carries the class's signature neighborhoods and attractions, including Central Park, the Boardwalk, the AquaTheater, the Ultimate Abyss dry slide, and the Perfect Storm waterslides, while adding new dining and nightlife venues tuned to the shorter, more party-oriented itineraries.
Utopia of the Seas was christened in 2024 with Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor serving as godmother, and her early voyages leaned heavily on entertainment and dining as the centerpiece of a weekend-length escape.
Registered in Nassau, Bahamas, and homeported at Port Canaveral, Florida, Utopia of the Seas sails three- and four-night Bahamas cruises and remains in active service, closing out the Oasis class as its most technically advanced member and a bridge between Royal Caribbean's earlier giants and the LNG-powered Icon generation.
Getting around — smart elevators: Royal Caribbean has been rolling out destination-dispatch "smart elevators" across its largest ships, including the Oasis class. Where fitted, guests select their deck at a console outside the elevators and are directed to a specific lettered car (A, B, C, and so on) rather than pressing a button inside the car; the system groups riders by destination to reduce waiting time.
